Indian mobile service operator, Idea Cellular has launched its Wi-Fi services in Ahmedabad, Cochin, Hyderabad, Pune and Vizag. This service is available for both prepaid and postpaid users, and the company promises to offer speeds of up to 2Mbps.

Apart from using Wi-Fi to surf the Internet at high speeds, users will also be able to use the service as Wi-Fi hotspots that allow users to connect multiple devices. Idea has promised that users will consistently get high download speeds and higher security protections at WPA2 security standards.

Post paid users will be able to choose between monthly and bi-annual plans. The tariffs for monthly plans start from Rs 599 that offers 10GB of free data and a reduced speed of 256Kbps after crossing the limit. Others plans available are a Rs 799 plan with 20GB data, Rs 999 plan with 30GB data and Rs 1,299 one with 50GB of free data, all of which can still be used at 512Kbps download speed after crossing the monthly limit. For people wanting to opt for bi-annual plans, there are packages starting from Rs 3,599 that offers 60GB data to the Rs 4,799 plan that offers 120GB of data.

Pre-paid customers on the other hand are offered quarterly and bi-yearly plans. The quarterly plans start at Rs 1,499 for 15GB of data, Rs 2,499 for 40GB of data and Rs 3,499 for 80GB data. While those choosing bi-yearly plans, can either choose the Rs 2,999 plan that offers 30GB of data or the Rs 4,999 one that offers 80GB of data.
