Recently Indian Railway announced Wi-Fi facilities on select trains , now their plans are to provide some other personalized services like wake-up calls and train status alert via text messages.
The Indian Railways’ Centre of Railway Information Systems has collaborated with RailYatri.in, and are working on a smartphone app to provide real-time information on the position of trains and predictions on their expected time of arrival in different stations.
According to the report, the company is also planning to launch an Android app soon to let a large number of users access to their current services, and is working on its apps for another platforms including iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.
