Google may launch updated Nexus 4 with Lte support at I/O this year: Rumor

One popular device of last year was the LG Nexus 4. However it wasn’t available with Sprint or Verizon as there wasn’t a CDMA version of the device.

Google in collaboration with LG launched its fourth generation Nexus smartphone and the powerful specifications and features of the device, created a buzz among the tech enthusiasts. However, the Google Nexus 4 was criticized, as it lacked an LTE radio and the ability to support micoSD card for memory expansion.

Google seems to have addressed the concern, as the company is rumored to unveil an updated Nexus 4 in its upcoming Google I/O event, which begins on May 15. According to a report from SidhTech, the updated Google Nexus 4 is said to come out with an LTE radio and CDMA bands along with 32 GB of inbuilt memory.

Unfortunately, there is no official confirmation from Google as of now. Let's all wait and see how things pan out in the coming days.

We now here rumours that Verizon may be getting the LG Nexus 4 soon and that it will be different. It is thought that there will be LTE support this time and that it will come with 32GB of storage. This would be superb news and the device would sure to be a huge hit. Bear in mind that we haven’t had confirmation of this and so at the moment it is just a rumour.

It is thought that the device could be with Verizon before the end of April and that it may be offered without contract for $349 over at the Google Play Store. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.

Update: A reader has also told us that they heard this same rumour and the handset would be compatible with CDMA. He referred to Alex Dobie of Android Central, who said last year said this in relation to the Nexus 4 which he said was coming to Sprint. At the time he said that it would have LTE and 32GB of storage and would come out in late Q1.

This means that it may be the same handset that has leaked once again. Whether it could be heading to Verizon or Sprint, who knows, but we will keep our eyes open for it to go past FCC very soon. It would be awesome to see a 32GB LG Nexus 4 at I/O with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
