Nokia today launched the Asha 210 in a special press meet. What puts the 210 apart from the other Asha phones is the addition of a full row QWERTY keypad; yes they have done away with the disappointing resistive touchscreens. The new Asha 210 is bright and has an essence of Lumia in it's yellow, cyan, black, magenta, and white colours.
Apart from that, it has a 2.4" LCD screen of QVGA resolution (320 x 240 pixels) which shouldn't be too bad to look at keeping in mind the small screen. It runs on the S40 Operatng System which should give you access to a plethora of games and apps in the Nokia Ovi store.
It also has a flash memory of up to 64MB with support for 32GB microSD card. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, EDGE, microUSB slot, and 3.5mm connector slot.
Now, the absence of 3G is, truth be told, VERY disappointing. Browsing in EDGE/GPRS is a real pain and yes the small 3G logo on the top of the screen will be missed. But as Nokia stated in their press release,"The new device also takes full advantage of the Nokia Xpress Browser which uses Nokia's cloud technology to reduce data consumption by up to 90 percent, helping people enjoy more affordable Internet access." But we have to wait and see if that's really the case.
The device has been pegged at $72 which should make it a sub 4K phone.
Now, if you look closely at the keypad there is a dedicated Whatsapp button, and yes, this is their special feature.
Whatsapp has teamed up with Nokia to offer free Whatsapp access for life (which otherwise carries a $0.99 annual subscription). But Nokia said that some regions would carry a Facebook button instead of Whatsapp but no word as of now which regions those would be.
Whichever social network flag you fly, it still won't take you very long to get there, as the (Symbian S40) software it runs on has been set up to put them all front and center on the homescreen anyway, with WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter coming pre-installed.
Looking at the photos, the phone looks to be real nice and solid and has a playful touch to it. You can view the entire gallery here.
The Asha 210 will feature a 2100mAh battery which the company claims to give a talk time up to 12 hours and a standby time up to 24 days. As said earlier, the device will be available in five colors – Yellow, Black, White, Cyan, and Magenta depending on the market.
No release date has been given by Nokia but they have instead said that the phone will start shipping in Q2 of 2013, so be ready to see the device in stores in early October/November.

The Nokia Asha 210
comes with a 2MP camera that can be accessed through a dedicated
hardkey even when the keypad is locked. The smart camera also offers a
choice of image capture, editing and sharing options, including:

camera. The built-in voice guides the user to ensure they are in the
