Flexible AMOLED panels showcased by Samsung at the CES earlier this year might have to face delays in production according to a new report.
The delay apparently is caused due to troubles with encapsulation of the said panels. Encapsulation basically assures that the display panel doesn’t absorb moisture or any other earthly substances like oxygen. This process is basically a necessity for OLED panels. And it seems like Samsung is having trouble getting through with this process. A company called Vitex System has patents for the procedure, which Samsung has legally contracted. But it is believed that this technique is very time consuming, so Samsung is looking for alternative sources.
This will be a major setback for Samsung which is having a competition of sorts with fellow South Korean manufacturer LG to bring the first working device with a flexible display panel. This is a temporary glitch for Samsung and we are certain the company will find alternate routes.
