PC-manufacturer Acer are not new to the world of laptops and tablets, in fact, their laptops are one of the most powerful machines out there, all within a great budget. So when the company called the press over a launch event in New York, everyone was expecting to see the usual screen and keyboard of a laptop. But Acer gave us a new device, a new device in the form of the Aspire R7.
Don't get me wrong, the Aspire R7 is a beautiful device with it's full-HD 1080p touchscreen running Windows 8. But then we look down and see this, and let's not call this a keyboard. Instead of the traditional
setup, wherein the trackpad sits right below the keyboard on the base,
the R7 has the trackpad situated where the keyboard traditionally sits
and the keyboard situated right below it. At the first glance, you might feel the keyboard to be inverted, and you are forgiven for your folly. You so silly. And it will probably take some time for you to get used to this setup.
The Acer Aspire R7 has a15.6-inch 1080p touchscreen display, and can be configured to powered by the Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, with an option of up to 12GB of RAM. You also get the option of a 1TB HDD or a 256GB SSD.The standard device would be a 14.83 by 10.02 by 1.12 inches
(HWD) device and would weigh 5.29 pounds. It comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, 6GB of memory, a 500GB hard
drive, a 24GB SSD, and a full-size backlit keyboard. The laptop
features an HDMI port, SD card reader, audio jacks, one USB 2.0 port,
and two USB 3.0 ports. It supports 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Current on pre order at Best Buy for $999.99 which roughly translates around Rs. 55,000, (click on Best Buy to pre-order the device) the Acer Aspire R7 will hit stores next to you on May 17.
And yes, Star Trek comes out that day.
