LG has announced that it will be launching its flagship large screen smartphone, the Optimus G Pro in many Asian markets including India, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippine, Vietnam and Malaysia starting May 30.
This implies that the phone will be launched in the Indian market before the end of June. The Optimus G Pro was launched in South Korea, earlier this year and the phone also made it to the US market last month.
"LG's Optimus G Pro sets a new benchmark in the over 5-inch display smartphone category which is catching on with consumers everywhere who aren't interested in owning both a phone and a tablet," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "Asian customers are leading many of today's technology trends and we're confident Optimus G Pro will find a large following in this region."
We had reported last month. The Optimus G Pro is LG’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy Note series and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, coupled with 2GB RAM. It also features a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p IPS display with a pixel density of 400ppi.
Other specifications include a 13-megapixel rear and 2.1-megapixel front cameras, 32GB internal memory with a microSD card slot and a 3,140mAh removable battery with wireless charging capabilities. It runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2. LG has also implemented some software features like dual camera recording that shoots from both the cameras simultaneously as well as 360-degree panorama photographs. LG had also announced a smart value software update for the Optimus G Pro that brought eye control video playback navigation, which was also seen on the Samsung Galaxy S 4.
The device launched in the US earlier this year, having first debuted in Korea right after Mobile World Congress in February.LG is planning to launch the new LG Optimus G Pro in India on the 20th of June.
