The fall of rupee against dollar will lead in increase of prices of low-cost smartphones further, other top companies like Apple and Blackberry will not be affected.
The companies like Karbonn, Maxx Mobile, Lava International, Micromax who buys handset parts in dollars mainly from China and assemble them in India will be affected .
Reports states that some companies has already hiked prices by 10%-12% and a further increase of 5%-10% is anticipated.
Below are the expected price hike as per companies :-
Lava will increase prices by 10%
Karbonn Mobiles will increase prices by 5%-10%
Micromax will increase prices by 5-10%
Samsung has already increased prices by 4-5%
Sony, HTC, Nokia, will increased prices by 3-4%
Apple and Blackberry phone will not increase prices
Nokia, Samsung, HTC and Sony said they were watching the rupee situation carefully.
