The Cupertino based company, Apple has
launched its fifth full sized iPad naming as iPad
Air. Going by the name, it is clear that the name Air is added to promote
the thinner and lighter build of new iPad. Earlier, Apple used the same name
for promoting lighter and thinner MacBook Air. The new iPad Air is not only
slimmer and lighter than the last variants of iPads, but is also superior in
terms of specifications and features. It is twice faster than the previous
variants.
The engineers at Apple were working very
hard to tackle the most common issues with regular size iPads that they were a
bit bigger and denser. Last year, Apple launched iPad Mini which was lighter
and thinner than regular iPads. It was cheaper than the regular model but
sported a small screen. Now, Apple has launched a regular 9.7-inch display size
iPad naming as iPad Air. The new iPad Air is shaved off around 24% of its
overall volume to obtain the new dimensions. Apple iPad Air is just 7.5mm thick
while the previous model was 9.4mm thick. It weighs only 1 pound, which is 28%
lighter than the last regular iPad.
Apple has tried to shrink every possible
component of this iPad to get the new slimmer dimensions. The touch sensors, the
battery, aluminium back panel and even the display were shrunk to get the
slimmer variant without compromising with the performance of the device.
Apple iPad Air sports 9.7-inch LED-backlit
Multi touch Retina Display with IPS technology. It produces a brilliant
resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution at 264ppi. It is the same display
which is also found on Apple iPad 4. It features a fingerprint resistant
oleophobic coating.
The iPad Air carries standard sensors like
Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and three axis gyro but misses the
fingerprint sensors, which are found on iPhone 5S. These sensors are used for
unlocking the device.
The new iPad Air is powered by A7 processing
chip and M7 motion coprocessor. This chip is promised to be twice faster than
the previous variants of iPads. The M7 processor helps in improving the battery
backup of iPad Air. Improved battery backup is something to cherish for its
buyers. This configuration is well enough to play heavy applications and games
on the new iPad Air.
Apple iPad Air runs the latest iOS 7
operating system, which offers new design and added features to its users. This
device houses a 5 megapixels iSight camera on its rear which is capable of
recording Full HD 1080p videos. Apple iPad Air has got a new microphone on its
back, which helps with sound balance at noisy places while recording videos
with the rear camera. This means iPad Air has total two microphones.
It also boasts a 1.2 megapixels FaceTime HD
front camera for video calling. However, iPad Air misses the updated camera and
innovative features (supported with A7
chip) as found on iPhone 5S.
The connectivity features include 4G LTE
and other standard options. The iPad Air has two new WI-Fi antennas to deliver
twice fast data speed of the device.
The all new Apple iPad Air is slimmer, lighter
and even faster than the previous variants of iPads. However, its performance
