The Motorola Moto G boasts of impressive battery, build, power and screen that would put most other expensive mobile phones to shame. Unless you are someone who fancies a top-end Smartphone from a well-known brand or simply crave for 4G connectivity, the Moto G might just be the ideal one for you. At the price offered by Motorola for the Moto G, there is hardly any phone that even comes close.
In the price department, the Moto G wins hands down. This phone is packed with abundant power, stunning screen, and an impressive battery along with interchangeable and colorful cases. Ideally, you would be shelling out an astronomical amount to get all these features packed into one device. However, with the Moto G, you are highly mistaken.

Moto G is priced at 179 dollars and is truly a steal for all those looking for a mid-segment Smartphone that offers latest features. The Moto G is engineered to handle the routine essentials optimally and it also tackles some intense tasks brilliantly. Based on the Android software, this phone is effortless to use. No matter whether you are purchasing a smart phone for the first time or happen to be an Android veteran, using the Moto G comes easy. The Moto G does not support expandable memory option and this might prove to be a disappointment for some. Also, it does not support 4G connectivity. However, in the face of its dirt-cheap price tag, these two shortcomings would hardly be decisive factors for potential buyers.

If you are looking to buy a Smartphone that does not really ridicule your budget, then the Moto G is the best one you could go for. It is a brilliant choice for you if you are not all that fussy about purchasing a top-end phone. And there are many great reasons why the Moto G steals the limelight from other affordable Android phones in the market.
Design and build quality

The Moto G features an attractive and a plain design. The front side of the device is essentially a glass slab held intact. However, the rear end of the device has been interestingly designed. It flaunts a matte plastic look and feels soft to touch. The device is available in a wide range of hues. If you are not really a fan of bright colors, then the black one is the best bet for you. The white model also looks chic while the pink and turquoise models are ideal for those who don’t mind experimenting with their gadgets.

The Moto G sports a 4.5-inch touchscreen display. The screen is smaller compared to other top-end devices that usually come with mighty displays. With a compact screen size, the Moto G is a lot more comfortable for everyday use. The back is slightly curved, lending a perfect grip in the palm.
Overall, the external look of the phone has been assembled impressively. The chassis does not have any flex or creaks. The power and volume buttons are on the edge and provide a convenient click. The front packs in tough Gorilla glass. The phone looks robust enough to endure a few bumps and knocks. Also, if you get bored with the back panel, you can simply get it exchanged with a new one, in a bright new color.

Apart from the buttons, the phone’s edges also house the MicroUSB charging port and the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Storage
The storage is one area where the Moto G disappoints. The Moto G comes with 8 GB or 16 GB storage. For the 16 GB model, you have to shell out £25 extra. The phone does not feature a slot of an SD card so there is no way you can expand the memory. The 8 GB space would be easily exhausted if you are going to download intensive games like Real Racing 3 or wish to store videos and lot of music files. Hence, a 16 GB is advisable to buy.

Face the competition. Talking about competition, the Motorola Moto G does face stiff competition from lesser known brands that are slowly gaining a footing in the low and mid –price segment. The Lava Iris 505 is one such entry level Android phone. Unlike the 4.5-inch screen of the Moto G, the Lava Iris 505 sports a huge 5-inch Qhd screen display. Indeed, playing games, watching movies and surfing the web is fun and exciting. The Lava Iris 505 packs in 1.2GHz dual-core processor and runs on 4.2 Android OS.
The Lava Iris 505 is armed with a 5-megapixel snapper and delivers impressive pictures. For video calling, there is a 1.2-megapixel camera. This phone also packs in 2000 mAh battery which is quite impressive. While the internal memory is 4 GB, a MicroSD card slot is provided to expand the memory. Also, the Lava Iris supports WiFi, 3G connectivity, Bluetooth and is priced at Rs. 8,9990 INR.

Xolo A500S :-
Yet another phone giving the Moto G a run for its money is the Xolo A500S.  This device comes with 4 GB internal memory and also has a MicroSD card slot to expand memory up to 32 GB. The device is armed with a 5 megapixel front snapper along with a VGA front camera for video calling.
The Xolo A500S packs in 1,400 mAh battery and it claims to offer 10 hours of talk time with a 2G connection and nearly 8 hours of talk time with 3G connection. The device is available in white, red, blue and black color variants. This phone also features a Xolo Secure app for offering anti-theft protection and defending the phone from data theft and loss. And if you are wondering whether the device is priced above Rs. 10,000, then you are certainly mistaken. The Xolo A500S sports a price tag of Rs. 6,999.

Apart from the Xolo A500S and the Lava Iris 505, the Moto G also faces competition from the higher priced Google Nexus 5, latest flagship device from Google that seems to be making waves in the Smartphone market. Nearly
every category of evaluation between Moto G and Nexus 5 is triumphed by the Nexus 5. In fact, as compared to Nexus 5, the Moto G appears to be a device from an era that existed a few years ago.
