Google has unveil a complete new technology in the form of smart contact lens. The Google's secret Google X Lab, which works on this type of new technology, has revealed on its blog a prototype lens made to monitor glucose levels for diabetics.
It uses a tiny wireless chip and miniature glucose sensor embedded between layers of contact lens material. The sensor on the smart lens is so small that it would appear like a glitter to the wearer and could easily used to measure their glucose levels.
According to Google, the sensor can take about one reading per second, and it is working on adding tiny LED lights to the lens to warn users when their glucose levels cross certain thresholds.
Google is said to be working with FDA to make this prototype a real product. The prototype currently is made for Diabetics only, but in coming years we could see this technology would be used to control our every day lives with the blink of an eye.
