This year we have seen the launch of many new smartphones at various events,specially at MWC 2014.But what most people were waiting for was the launch of the flagship devices from Samsung and HTC,ie, Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8.
HTC has launched its latest flagship device-HTC One M8 recently,after all the rumours and speculations.We have seen this device and it is a very powerful one too.It also has new features like UFocus,Foregrounder,etc and comes with an Ultrapixel camera rumoured to capture 3D images.
On the other hand Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with superior design and features like Heart Rate Sensors,finger print scanner and much more.
So let us compare this 2 flagship devices.
Form Factor: Dimensions and shape:
HTC One M8 has the dimensions of 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.4mm while its rival Samsung Galaxy S5 has 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm dimensions.Samsung Galaxy S5 has a plastic body with double dotted cover which gives a better grip.HTC One M8 comes a full metal body and gives a premium feel.The HTC One M8 is a slightly heavier at 160 grms dur to its metal body while the Samsung Galaxy S5 is 145 grms only.
Display:
Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch display with 1080 x 1920p density and 432 ppi,while its competitor HTC One M8 has a 5-inch display with the same 1080 x 1920p density and 441 ppi.But both devices seem to have no particular difference when used.
Chipset and O.S.:
Both devices have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 2.5 GHz processor while the HTC One M8 has a 2.3 GHz processor.Both are Quad-Core.Both the devices have an Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB RAM.Both devices run on Android KitKat v4.4 OS,but the Galaxy S5 has a slightly upgraded V4.4.2 OS.So not much difference in this part too.
Camera-Rear and Front:
HTC One M8 has a 4.1 Ultrapixel camera and a secondary rear camerathat takes in-depth information about the images and also has a 5 MP front shooter for video calling and good quality selfies.Samsung Galaxy S5 on the other hand has a 16 MP rear camera that can shoot videos at 4K resolution and a 2.1 MP front camera
Storage and battery:
Both the devices are available in 16 GB and 32 GB variant and also supports microSD card upto 128 GB.So there is no comparison in terms of memory.The Galaxy S5 has a 2800 mAH battery that can be removed while the HTC One M8 has a non removable 2600 mAH battery.
Pricing:
