Smartphone maker Lenovo and Indian telecom operator Reliance Communications have joined hands to launch a new range of smartphones in India which would take advantage of Reliance’s ‘Dual Core’ network, as they would be capable of working on CDMA as well as GSM networks simultaneously.
The new range of smartphones would run on the latest Android operating system and will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and would be able to automatically switch the phone calls between the CDMA and the GSM network based on the quality and strength of the RF signals.
In a statement made by Reliance Communications, Gurdeep Singh, President & CEO said

In line with our endeavour to develop the CDMA device ecosystem, the co-branded smart-phones are set to offer a superlative customer experience in terms of device, speed and coverage on our high speed data network offering the widest footprint across the country.
The co-branded Reliance-Lenovo smartphones would be available exclusively to Reliance customers across 2,500 of its stores along with over a 1,000 Lenovo stores all across India.
Commenting on the partnership, Lenovo Group SVP and President (LBG) Liu Jun said,
India’s smartphone market is booming and predicted to grow even faster in the coming years. Lenovo’s partnership with Reliance creates strong synergies that leverage the unique strengths of Reliance and Lenovo.

The phones will come with dual-SIM card slots allowing users put-in one CDMA and one GSM connection on the smartphone and use the services as per their preference. Priced under Rs.8000, the phones should be available starting March-end.
