Just like its arch rival Nikon, Canon today launched a dozen new cameras in India and these include the monstrous EOS C100 and EOS 1DC that are geared towards videographers as well as some Wi-Fi enabled cameras.
To begin things, there are a number of Wi-Fi enabled cameras that include the PowerShot A3500 IS and the PowerShot N. The A3500 IS has a 16 megapixel sensor and a smart auto mode that has 32 scenes built-in. It costs Rs 9,995. The PowerShot N has a 12.1 megapixel sensor, a 2.8-inch tilt type capacitive touch screen and 8x of optical zoom. It costs Rs 20,995.
There are also a number of new cameras in IXUS series. The new IXUS 135 has a 16-megapixel sensor, Wi-Fi, 8X optical zoom and can also capture video in HD. It costs Rs 10,995.
The IXUS 140 is being touted as the world’s slimmest IXUS camera. Like other Canon cameras it also comes with a built-in Wi-Fi module, but it combines this finesse with a 28-224 mm lens that offers 16X zoom. It also comes preloaded with creative filters and an eco mode that conserves the battery. This model costs Rs 12,495.
The IXUS 255 HS combines has a 12.1 megapixel sensor, a 24-240mm lens, Wi-Fi connectivity, full HD video, and 20X zoom. It costs Rs 12,995.
There is also the IXUS 132 which combines a 16-megapixel sensor with 8X optical zoom and 720p video in a package costing Rs 7,995.
Among the cheaper PowerShot models, Canon is introducing a newly refreshed PowerShot A2500. It marries a 16.0 megapixel sensor with a 28-140 mm lens, 10X zoom, a DIGIC 4 image processor and a battery saving eco mode in a package that costs just Rs 5,995.
There is also the PowerShot A2600 which is slightly mode expensive at Rs 8,995. This model adds 5X optical zoom and a larger 3-inch LCD to make the package even more appealing.
Canon also launched the EOS 700D, which is the successor the entry-level EOS 650D DSLR. The EOS 700D comes with an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor and gets a 9-point (all cross type) auto focus system. A DIGIC 5 image processor powers the camera, and the EOS 700D offers an ISO range in between of 100-25600. Surprisingly, Canon isn’t bundling any lens along with the EOS 700D, and the camera is available for Rs.53,995 (body-only).
Finally, Canon unveiled a couple of new cameras for professionals as well, the EOS C100 and the EOS 1D C. The list of specifications for the EOS C100 include a Super 35mm 8.3MP CMOS Sensor, EF Lens Mount with EF Contacts, HDMI Output, Dual SDHC/SDXC Memory Card Slots, Built-in ND Filters and ISO 320 and up to ISO 20000. The EOS C100 will set you back by Rs.5,00,000.
The EOS 1D C can easily be termed as a monster , and is capable of shooting 4K video at 24 fps, while it can also shoot HD video at 60 fps. The feature set of the EOS 1D C includes an 18.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, Magnesium Alloy Body, Dual DIGIC 5+ Image Processors, 61-Point High Density Auto Focus and Eye-Level Pentaprism Viewfinder. The Canon EOS 1D C costs a whooping Rs.9,00,000.
