After announcing Asha 501 today in an event Nokia also announced a partnership with Facebook for free access to the social network site Facebook on its Asha smartphones. Nokia has tied up with about 60 carriers globally and Airtel as its partner in India.
The free Facebook access will start with the Asha 501, when it is launched in June. Nokia is the first handset to provide free Facebook access on its phones. The partnership is beneficial for both Nokia and Facebook as it gives Nokia a clear advantage over white boxed Android smartphones and for Facebook to get more mobile users, especially in the entry-level segment.
