The amateur photographers who wish to take their hobby ahead, Canon has come up with a DSLR camera, which would help you do so. The Canon EOS 70D, which was recently unveiled, could provide you with the right mix of technology that would help in exploring the world in a better way through the view finder.
There are other improvements as well, but they pale in comparison to the Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which is fully compatible with 103 EF lenses. That tech is likely to make its way to the rest of Canon's lineup eventually, but if you want to take advantage now, there's only one model in the world that includes it. As for other features, a boosted consecutive mode enables 7 fps captures, compared to just over 5 with the older model. There's also a multi-shot noise reduction mode, which we often see on higher-end point-and-shoots, but rarely DSLRs. There's a mic jack, but for better or worse (well, definitely worse), Canon excluded a headphone connector. Additionally, there's no uncompressed HDMI output -- this is definitely a consumer model, despite the performance enhancements.Tthe new sensor along with a Digic 5+ processor will give a maximum continuous shooting rate of 7fps. The camera will also see an increase in its ISO, which could now be extended up to ISO 25600. However, the new Canon 70D features only three AF point selection mode, viz. Single point AF, Zone AF and 19-Point AF, as compared to Canon 7D, which comes with five AF point selection modes.
The three different modes could be used to its optimum ability while clicking various landscape, portrait and macro images. The “Single point AF” mode will help you concentrate on a single point of the pictorial area, while the “Zone AF” mode will auto-focus on the selected zone or the area. On the other hand, the 19-Point AF, as the name suggests, will help focussing on any spot in the frame.
The company claims that the camera would be capable of shooting full HD videos at 24, 25 and 30fps, while videos could also be shot at 50 or 60fps with a resolution of 720p. Canon 70D will come with an internal mic capable of recording sound in stereo mode and will also have an input for the external mic.
Other features that this advanced amateur DSLR will include are HDR mode, built-in Wi-Fi facility and the JPEG-only Creative Filters mode.
Canon has introduced new Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus:
Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DPA), is definitely a new take on autofocus technology. Typically, a single photodiode -- the element on a sensor that collects light and converts it to an electrical signal that carries the image information -- only passes on image data. DPA splits each photodiode in two, comparing the signals from each half using a phase-detection algorithm for autofocus, in addition to using the signal from the entire photodiode for image data. In contrast, Canon's Hybrid AF system, used by the T4i,T5i, SL1, and EOS M simply supplements its phase-detection AF with contrast AF.
