If you have decided to treat yourself to a
great phablet, Nokia Lumia 1520 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are two of the best
currently offered models. Seeing that both phones are roughly in the same price
range, the choice for most people will be made on the bases of the operating
system of these phones – Samsung has Android, while Nokia is, of course,
running Windows Phone 8, so if you don’t mind going with either of these
platforms, you’ll need a clear overview of their strengths and weaknesses.
Screen :-
One of the major reasons that people choose
clunky phablets is the screen size, so it only makes sense to take a look at
the displays of these two phones before addressing their other similarities and
differences. Note 3 sports a great 5.7 inch Super AMOLED screen, which is known
for amazing colors and brightness. As would be expected from a phone in this
class, the display is Full HD with pixel density of 386ppi. Lumia’s screen also
comes in Full HD, but as it has a somewhat larger, 6 inch display its pixel density
is slightly lower at 368ppi. Both displays are amazing to look at, and the
difference in pixel density is not really that perceptible to the naked eye, so
if the screen is your primary consideration, go for the one with the more
suitable size.
Hardware :-
Both phones are amazingly powerful, coming
close to rivaling laptops, at least when numbers are concerned. Lumia is 8.7 mm
thick and weighs 209 grams, while Note 3 is 8.3 mm thick and only weighs 168
grams. This might make a considerable difference to some when it comes to
handling, but chances are that most people wouldn’t even notice, so you
probably shouldn’t base your decision on which phone to buy based on these values.
Both phones have an internal storage of 32 GB, and the option of adding a
microSD card of up to 64 GB. While Nokia Lumia 1520 has 2 GB RAM and a 2.2 GHz
processor, Samsung Note sports an amazing quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU with 2.3
GHz and has 3 GB RAM. Both phablets provide for a comfortable and smooth user
experience, daring you to try and find an activity that would be able to cause
lag or overburden the system’s resources.
Camera :-
As you can imagine, both phablets come with
state of the art cameras. Note 3 comes equipped with a 13 Mp camera and an app allowing you to make
the most of it. Apart from giving you access to some advanced features, the app
also allows you to have quite a bit of fun with your camera. When it comes to
video, you cans shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. Lumia, on the other hand, comes with
a spectacular 20 Mp camera and great camera software which gives you much more
options than the one on Samsung. It is capable of shooting 1080p at 30fps.
