After Google Glasses, Google introduced a new concept - Project Tango. Project Tango has the objective to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion. Over the year, Google has been working with research labs, universities, and industrial partners from nine countries around the world to harvest research from the last decade of work in robotics and computer vision, concentrating that technology into a unique mobile phone.

Google has build a  prototype is a 5” smartphone with customized hardware and software designed to track full 3D motion of the device, and creating a map of the environment. The sensors in the phone allow it to make over a quarter million 3D measurements every second, updating the position and real-time orientation, combining that data into a single 3D model of the space around you.

It creates a 3D virtual map which provides seamless navigation not only till the street or in front of a shop but through out the place. Great virtual assistant, companion, friend for us and the visually impaired. Google is still working on it, but we hope to see it soon in our phones.
