<span style="font-family: inherit;">As Promised by Microsoft earlier this month, Today Microsoft released Windows Phone 8.1 update for developers. This update include some important features such as </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">Cortana digital assistant, a new notification center, and skinned Tiles for the Start Screen.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Registered Windows Phone developers can now start downloading the update on their devices.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">For those who are not a developer, </span>don't<span style="font-family: inherit;"> worry there’s still an easy way to get Windows Phone 8.1 before it is officially rolled out. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
You have to visit <a href="http://appstudio.windowsphone.com/" target="_blank">Windows Phone App Studio site</a> and Register as a developer with App Studio. Then you need to install a special Preview for Developers app from the <span style="font-family: inherit;">Windows Store which registers your device and allows you to update from the "phone update" section in settings. There you are with the Latest OS running on your </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">device.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">To ensure the best experience, your device must be running the latest OS release (currently 8.0.10322.71) or greater to receive early updates via this program </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">and you will be required to accept additional terms & conditions within the app prior to opt-in.</span><br />

<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">After you install a preview update, you may void any warranty from your mobile operator and OEM.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">A preview update only includes the Microsoft portion of the update.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">You cannot Downgrade to the previous OS version after you have updated your phone to a preview update.</span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">For now, the Cortana digital assistant will be restricted to US only. But, Microsoft promises support for UK and China in the second half of the year, with </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">other countries to follow afterwards in 2015. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">But if you want to use Cortana earlier then you’ll need to set your device to the US region, which will restrict some local functionality depending on your country. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The developer preview of Windows Phone 8.1 will also not include the custom lock screen support that Microsoft previewed at Build.</span><br />

Cortana will bring you weather info, info on your favorites sports team and a lot more. It brings you contextual feature reading your emails and noting your interests. There's the Notebook feature, which lets you add your interests and give more personal information to Cortana.</span></div>

Sadly, Cortana will be available only in US at first, it will then come to UK, China while the rest of the countries will follow.</span></div>
