<span style="font-family: inherit;">As Promised by Microsoft earlier this month, Today Microsoft released Windows Phone 8.1 update for developers. This update include some important features such as </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">Cortana digital assistant, a new notification center, and skinned Tiles for the Start Screen.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Registered Windows Phone developers can now start downloading the update on their devices.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">For those who are not a developer, </span>don't<span style="font-family: inherit;"> worry there’s still an easy way to get Windows Phone 8.1 before it is officially rolled out. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
You have to visit <a href="http://appstudio.windowsphone.com/" target="_blank">Windows Phone App Studio site</a> and Register as a developer with App Studio. Then you need to install a special Preview for Developers app from the <span style="font-family: inherit;">Windows Store which registers your device and allows you to update from the "phone update" section in settings. There you are with the Latest OS running on your </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">device.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">To ensure the best experience, your device must be running the latest OS release (currently 8.0.10322.71) or greater to receive early updates via this program </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">and you will be required to accept additional terms & conditions within the app prior to opt-in.</span><br />

<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">After you install a preview update, you may void any warranty from your mobile operator and OEM.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">A preview update only includes the Microsoft portion of the update.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">You cannot Downgrade to the previous OS version after you have updated your phone to a preview update.</span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">For now, the Cortana digital assistant will be restricted to US only. But, Microsoft promises support for UK and China in the second half of the year, with </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">other countries to follow afterwards in 2015. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">But if you want to use Cortana earlier then you’ll need to set your device to the US region, which will restrict some local functionality depending on your country. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The developer preview of Windows Phone 8.1 will also not include the custom lock screen support that Microsoft previewed at Build.</span><br />

Both companies went to court but the UK ruled that Microsoft’s use of the SkyDrive name infringed in British Sky Broadcasting’s trademark and that they’d have to rename it. Which it appears, they’re doing today.</span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 20px;">Microsoft announced today that they are retiring the SkyDrive brand and renaming the cloud storage service to “OneDrive” instead. The idea being that you have one place to backup your photos, documents or other files, whether it be from Windows Phone, your Windows Computer or the web.</span></span><br />

The title is set in the modern day, and pits players in more underdog scenarios where America is crippled.When the game launches, the game will run at 60 fps while remaining detailed and extremely slick. A video shown at the event looked great and smooth, though a bit unimpressive for being a next-gen title. The graphics aren’t necessarily the focus here, however, with smarter AI and the actual gameplay world playing a big part.Microsoft says downloadable content will come to the One before any other system, which is a huge win for the new Xbox.</div>

As will your Xbox Live Gamertag.Sadly, due to the x86 architecture of the Xbox One, the PowerPC-based 360 titles simply won't run on the hardware. Microsoft's not super worried about consumer reaction, though, telling Engadget, "We care very much about the investment people have made in Xbox 360 and will continue to support it with a pipeline of new games and new apps well into the future," a Microsoft rep told us. That said, Xbox One is designed, "to play an entirely new generation of games -- games that are architected to take full advantage of state-of-the-art processors and the infinite power of the cloud."</span></div>
