Both companies went to court but the UK ruled that Microsoft’s use of the SkyDrive name infringed in British Sky Broadcasting’s trademark and that they’d have to rename it. Which it appears, they’re doing today.</span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 20px;">Microsoft announced today that they are retiring the SkyDrive brand and renaming the cloud storage service to “OneDrive” instead. Microsoft did not specifically mention when the transition to the new name will start or finish but they stated that we should all “<em style="background-color: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">expect to be able to experience the new <a href="https://preview.onedrive.com/" target="_blank">OneDrive </a>soon</em>”.</span></div> </div>
